In a surprising move, fashion brand Versace has partnered with the controversial transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney to promote a new line of women’s clothing. Unsurprisingly, the decision did not go over well, and the comments under the clip were filled with women expressing their anger at the designer.
For context, Dylan Mulvaney was responsible for the massive backlash against Bud Light, which partnered with the LGBTQ influencer to promote their product. An enormous boycott ensued, and the brand lost billions in stock valuation overnight, damage which has yet to be repaired.
In any case, the story was broken by prominent conservative influencer Tom Lucere, who took to X on May 9, 2025, to announce the event. He stated, “🔥🚨BREAKING: Versace just enlisted transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney to promote their women’s collection in an attempt help boost their decline in sales.”
In the comments under his post, conservatives were incensed by the woke partnership. One such comment read, “Why tf would women want to see clothes aimed at them modeled on a man? Narrower hips, broader shoulders, etc – I want to see what the clothes look like on a woman.” Another added, “I guess women will go back to designing and sewing our own clothes. That w a y we won’t have to compete with ill fitting garments made for men. Versace; the ultimate misogynists!!!”
Reacting to the highly controversial ad campaign, many users threatened a boycott. Threatening collective action, one woman said, “Hey @Versace on behalf of real women everywhere, we will no longer wear, purchase or promote the brand that has hired a mentally ill guy pretending he’s a woman to promote it. It’s insulting. Gianni would have never allowed this BS.”
Continuing the calls for a boycott, another commenter noted, “Good to know. I often wear @Versace
perfumes, but since they’re replacing women with men to sell products, I’ll switch to another brand. I don’t support companies pushing anti-science, anti-woman, anti-sanity agendas that harm women, children, men, and families alike.”
Blasting the brand for its woke values, some users wondered if the brand could continue to charge premium prices given this PR disaster. One such comment said, “Insane how @Versace doesn’t like women.. They’re promoting women’s clothes by hiring a dude.. got it. I’m pretty sure their garments are not Italian made.. the same person making the SHEIN in their factory is the same person making Versace.”
Rounding out the comments, a lengthy reply noted the similarities between Versace and Budweiser. The reply said, “Hey, Versace, ask Budweiser how that turned out. Actually, I never had anything against Mulvaney. What upset me was the arrogant and condescending attitude and statements of the vice president of marketing, Alissa Heinerscheid. I really could not care less if a guy dressing as a woman enjoys Bud Light.”

Continuing, the same comment said, “Versace, you went from being an iconic brand symbolizing class, elegance, and luxury to a casualty of the woke marketing circus. Sell luxury fashion instead of political statements. But hey, if you want to be the Bud Light of high fashion, congratulations, you’re right on track.”
