In a highly contentious Committee on Financial Services Hearing, far-left Democrat Joyce Beatty (OH) feuded with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Beatty’s rant lasted nearly 2 minutes as she criticized Bessent with a barrage of dishonest attacks.

For context, during her woke screed, she attacked Bessent for refusing to comply with her demands to feature Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill, a pet project of liberals for the last 30 years. The irrelevant remarks highlight the woke left’s inability to cope with a confident conservative.

In any case, the hearing, which was held on May 7, 2025, began with a discussion of how foreign businesses would be required to file with federal agencies. The woke Ohio Democrat started, “Would you explain to the American public how you undermine the bipartisan CTA and expect law enforcement and national security agencies to quickly and effectively know the true owners behind shell companies registered in the United States?”

Continuing her woke screed, she attempted to paint this common-sense position as being soft on crime. She claimed, “Now that foreigners, including a drug cartel, gang members, could register a company in the United States with no state or any federal ownership reporting requirements. I remind you in your testimony, you talked about illicit actors? Well, these are some of our illicit actors!”

Responding to her vitriol with a measured tone, which completely shut her down. Bissent said, “The Congresswoman, an overwhelming majority of the domestic entities that you’re describing are hard-working Americans with small businesses.”

Annoyed by his calm demeanor, Beatty launched an attack. She interjected, “So you’re saying to me, it’s not true that they must file and do the (sic) foreign entities must file with the BOI.” Understandably annoyed, the treasury secretary responded, “Yes, we bifurcated. We bifurcated the CTA program so that domestics do not have to.”

Seeing that this line of attack was leading nowhere, the Democrat pivoted to tired woke talking points. Beatty interjected, “I mean, you can say it however you want to, but the answer is no, and this makes it easier, and this is what I want the American folks to know. It makes it easier for human and drug traffickers, cartels, terrorists, organizations, and other criminals to do business in the United States.”

Still not done with her over-the-top rant, she whimpered, “And when you’re limiting the enforcement just to foreign entities, it exempts 99% of the entities that Congress intended the law to cover when it was passed into law. So I think I do have my answer. We’re just not agreeing on it, but we know why.”

Finally concluding her disrespectful screed, the woke Democrat tried to get her last question in as the chair attempted to restore order. She alleged, “So let me go to my Congress. I mean, it’s my time. Let me go to my next question. The clock is running. He refused to comply with my time, which was not his time. In 2016, former Secretary Jack Lew announced that Harriet Tubman was to be the new face of the $20 bill. Can you tell me what’s the current status of this project?” Irritated, Bessent curtly responded, “No, ma’am, I can’t, but my staff will get back to you.”
